Lace's birthday fundraiser

It's my birthday soon, and this year I'd like to ask for something a bit different to the usual gift: if you're up for it, consider donating here instead.

I've picked three causes I believe in. You can find more info on them at the bottom of this page:

GiveDirectly: sending cash straight to people living in poverty and empowering them to choose for themselves how best to spend it to improve their lives.

The Good Food Institute: accelerating the transition of the world’s food system toward alternative proteins - better for the planet and for all animals (humans included) on it.

Teaching at the Right Level Africa: helping kids in Sub-Saharan Africa build basic reading and maths skills by teaching at the child's actual level rather than what's expected for their age and grade.

All three can be found on Giving What We Can's platform, a community for effective giving, built on the idea that where you give matters just as much as whether you give. The same amount of money can do wildly different amounts of good depending on where it lands. So a bit of research (that GWWC has already done for you) goes a long way.

If this interests you, GWWC's site is worth a browse, and some people even take a pledge to give a percentage of their income each year. And if giving isn't something you're able to do right now, that's completely fine too. Thanks for reading this far regardless!

Thanks so much for being part of my birthday, whatever way you choose to celebrate it with me.
